I think the US public would have supported a stronger attack/response in the Afghanistan/Pakistan area - whether Pakistan agreed or not - that would have eliminated most of Al Qaeda hiding in the hills there - by any means necessary.

It looks to me that the American public was duped into believing that Osama and Al Qaeda were responsible for 9/11,when there is absolutely no concrete evidence that that is true.
Afghanistan was just a tune up for the real target,Iraq.
I personally do not believe that Osama is alive.No one has seen him since before the first Gulf War.
Think about it,none of us could vanish for that long...
