Rape is the perfect accusation for a smear artist. You can't prove it, disprove it, and you can always find some unethical woman to come forth and make the accusation if you have money to pay her. Of course the rightwing conspirators didn't stop with "rape". They invented allegations of murder, drug-running, selling secrets to the Chinese and even stealing the White House silverware. None of it was even remotely true. Sound familiar? Same sort of thing they did against Kerry, making him sound like some kind of traitor when he was actually a bona fide war hero as well as a responsible peace-maker after the war.
