Saddam was a big liar. So are Bush-Cheney, we now know. So clearly we have given up moral authority. Bush-Cheney have made us not so much better than Saddam in the world's eyes. Especially when you consider all the gas gouging, tortures, WMD lies, election fraud, etc.
