Saddam Hussein was not Hitler. OMG. Can't you tell the difference between Iraq and Germany?

Why not just admit that you don't know what neutral country the US invaded in order to be better position to attack Nazi Germany...

It was Morrocco and Algeria, colonies of Vichy France, where NO German troops were stationed (not even in Vichy France proper). It was a neutral country which had made a separate peace with Hitler that divided France into two sections.. (because Hitler didn't want to waste troops occupying all of it).

We didn't even declare war upon Vichy France, or have Congress pass an "authorization to use force"... Nope.. we just showed up one day on those Moroccan beaches and hoped the French troops there wouldn't shoot at us (there was also some secret negotiations involving Gen Mark Clark prior to the landings.)..

So OMG.. I can only imagine what you'd be saying right now were we living in that time.. You'd be pissing and moaning about how we invaded a neutral country and forced the Nazis to occupy Vichy France (which they did immediately after we landed in Morocco)..

And when our troops were massacred at Kasserine Pass you'd be out here saying "I didn't agree to this invasion of Africa and we don't have a right to be there.. It's all FDR's fault... )..

The fact is.. just like Morocco was a stepping stone to taking Italy of the war and destroying Rommel's Afrika Korps, Iraq is a stepping stone toward winning any potential cultural, political, go forbid, regional war between the West and Islamic Militants.

It's the one means of forcing the governments here that we're definitely unhappy about what's going on and if they aren't willing to change it, we are...

Because without that change, we're looking at full-scale regional war within 10-20 years.

And then it won't be just 150,000 US troops over here.. it will be millions.. Many of which have yet to graduate from high school.

I'd like to avoid that, if possible..

So go back and stick you head in the sand..
