The have access to what the Administration allows. IF they can think of the right questions to ask and IF the Administration is willing to provide the answers they might just get a good portion of the White House has.

The last time I checked, the CIA was an Cabinet level independent agency, not a office in the Executive Branch.

After all, wasn't the CIA created through an Act of Congress in 1947? Doesn't the Congress hold oversight of the CIA??

I think you're referring to the National Security Council, which IS an executive branch office.

Bottom, the democratic leadership saw the same intelligence the Bush administration did. They saw the same stuff the UNSC inspectors were providing to the UN.. They saw the same stuff being shared by our NATO allies with us..

And the reality was in 2003.. NO ONE, not the French, the Russians, the Chinese, or the Germans, could provide the necessary answers that would have proven that Iraq was in compliance with its disarmament obligations and that they had not broken the terms of the UN Cease Fire agreement (UNSC 687).

We gave Saddam more then enough opportunities to fully "cooperate and graduate", and he chose not to...

The stakes are too high for us to permit ANY non-democratic nation to possess WMDs in that region.. certainly nuclear ones.. It will unleash a Nuclear Arms race across the region..

And that goes for Iran as well.. If they get them, then Saudi Arabia and Syria will want them.. And Turkey will want them.. Then Kuwait, Qatar.. Jordan...

I think that's something that's DEFINITELY in our interest to prevent.
