Planning a one week trip to Mauritius in early December, Ramadan will be a distant memory by then.

Actually, for the first time ever the bars were open this year during Ramadan and the restaurants served wine, beer and alcohol with dinner, so it was relatively normal. The only restrictions were that the bars and restaurants had to be not visible to the outside (no outdoor patios or restaurants that open onto the street/hotel lobby) and there was no live music or loud recorded music. Kills the buzz a bit, but better than nothing. I guess that's Islamic progress, or something like that...
