Christians have lived in that part of the world for 2000 years. Do you think its okay to walk into say Turkey, take some of its land and set up a Christian state?

You're missing the point. Where different religions coexist the "state" should not discriminate between them. If there were a significant non-Muslim population in Turkey it should be a non-denominational state, not a Muslim state.

Actually, I think you are missing my point. MM said it was okay for the UK and the US to set up a Jewish state in Palestine because the Jews had been in and out of the region for 10K years. So if length of time is the guidepost, then we should be able to go into any country in the ME and set up a Christian state since Christians have been around for 2K. I chose Turkey because the Eastern Orthodox church is headquartered there.
