Libby showed a pattern of lies and deception. The conversation with Russert was only one of the lies. Russert says that Libby called to complain about a news story. Because of that he called the president of NBC. That made it a memorable conversation for him. Libby carried on a pattern of lying with many reporters. Russert had no reason to lie. But Libby has all the reason in the world to lie. It's CYA pure and simple. Orca
