Blacks are free to support whomever they want. 3% of them now support Bush despite large "faith based" pay-outs to certain major black churches which are simply bribes. As we saw after Katrina, the GOP secretly despises most blacks. The NAR types were all excited to go in and start shooting them. Others were excited by the prospect of grabbing their former neighborhoods and developing them into white-owned properties. It was a disgrace. But real Christians (as opposed to the religious right) stepped in and gave compassion. Remember, much of the GOP far right is made up of the remnants of the confederacy and segregationists. Of course they'd never admit it, but it's clearly there. Which is why the very few black conservatives get immediately promoted to highly visible jobs despite usually poor credentials. Powell was the exception. But he left the administration after being forced to lie.
