The Euros and their kin are arming themselves with handbags for a gentlemanly duel at dawn while the barbarians ignore such niceties and instead use battering rams to make an assault on Rome's gates, Mq, to mix a few metaphors, one of which, in the spirit of these shameless times, I stole just as the Gang of Six wishes to steal Q's ideas.

You should know that the Chinese are, fittingly to the barbarians-at-the-gates theme of this message, now selling Q-equipped WCDMA phones in Italy. And QCDMA has made a tiny dent in Portugal. And O2 will use Q-equipped WCDMA data cards, and the HSDPA efforts, which I suspect had a lot to do with the present imbroglio, appear to be doing swimmingly as Curitel, LG Electronics, Novatel Wireless, Option NV, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Siemens Communications and Sierra Wireless, Inc., and perhaps more, have selected the 6275 for their initial HSDPA offerings. I'm not going to even mention the 6280, which should have many Nordics opening up veins in their saunas.

Add the Flarion purchase to the mix, and one can see why there is the sour scent of fear, loathing, and desperation in the air.

Things have never looked this good.
