However, we are dealing with a culture that openly supports the rape of an innocent woman by a half dozen young men because her brother banged the wrong lady. That's a cultural thing, not religious. If they were Christian Arabs, you'd still honor killings amidst the various tribes... It's a social pressure place upon them by their families, not necessarily by Islam.. In fact, women had more freedom under Islam than they did under medieval christianity. But of course, that was because most christians were converted barbarian clansmen.. Like in Egype, and also parts of Kurdistan, where female circumcision is still practiced. That has NO MENTION in the Quran, but it is a practice that predates Islam and probably Christianity as well. But what I think you and I definitely agree upon is that the nature of this enemy's agenda is one that does not permit compromise.. It certainly doesn't permit compromise with an "infidel" culture (defined as anyone other than the most Luddite, and hyper-conservative Muslim). How can we expect to make peace with an enemy who very leadership is defined by beheading infidels. You might have heard in the news about "Amirs", translated as "Princes".. It's the Militant Islamist equivalent of a Mafioso "Made Man" because one has to behead at least 10 people to earn the title. And each town will normally have more than 1 or 2 Amirs apiece.. Baghdad has dozens of minor Amirs. The same with Mosul (or at least it used to.. ;0).. Ramadi, Fallujah.. Al Qa'im.. All have these Amirs, who have won their positions by lopping off the heads of people... It's a leadership that lust in blood-letting, and rewards the spilling of the innocent blood of anyone who doesn't share their ideas.. It's like something out of our worst horror movies... But STILL, the American people can't seem to recognize the danger of these people, or the fact that they can't be bought off, or reasoned with... They will press you anytime they detect weakness, looking for cracks in our nation's armor.. And they are patient.. That's what I've learned while I've been here... And it's fortified my perception that we must do everything we possibly can to prevent the creation of an Islamic state by Al Qai'da's followers, in ANY country... Hawk
