Lets stick to just H1-B : If the empployee feels like (s)he's not getting a decent deal, (s)he has choices I mentioned in my prev post.

Lets not add PORK by including "immigration problems in general".

Steve,

Don't mix up unskilled illegals with H1-B immigrants. We need the H1-B's.

Too few Americans take degree's in Computer Engineering and Computer Science - its hard and there are easier ways to get by in life.

We do not have a separate pay scale for H1-B's where I work. We pay by experience and education at hire - and by performance thereafter. If they are good we pay the legal fee's to get them Green Cards. Most of those become Citizens.

BTW - The majority of my co-op students over the past few years (from US Universities) were born in the US, but are the children of H1-B immigrants from India and Pakistan. Its the culture of promoting Engineering -> something we can use.

John

Disclosure - I am of Irish heritage -7 generations in the US on my Fathers side, but my mother is a Canadian.
