Steve, If American workers would abandon the labor unions, and accept a decent wage to get the job done to the best of their ability, immigrants wouldn't be a problem. Too many American's will sit around on their obese butts instead of doing the job.

You are not facing the realities of the world.

I think you are the one that's not facing it, Steve. We are now in the process of switching over to a total world market for everything. If you try to stop people coming in, the work is outsourced. If you restict that too, overseas companies end up with the work and then import it back as a product. If you try to restrict that, you cut down our ability to buy at the lowest price, and cost us time and money, which lowers our prosperity.

The history of free trade shows that the sooner we accept the inevitable, and profit by it, the richer we will all be.

You are trying to hold back the tide with a broom.

Steve,

With millions of H1-B's over the years - I am sure there have been abuses, but for every specific one you can offer this thread - I will offer 10 who became productive citizens.

John

You don't seem to understand that many H1-B immigrants usually come from very low wage scale countries with poor working and living conditions..

I think you are missing at least part of the point when you focus on wage levels. There's a skill level issue as well. I'd bet that companies would still need this program to fill positions even if they had to pay more in salaries for them. Our dumbed down education system isn't producing enough talent.

When will we start to do what is best for Americans?

I think we are.
