My dad likes Boston Legal but the only time I've seen it is when I visit him. I think it's a good show. Part of the problem is that I can't stand the fact that James Spader has gotten old and fat.

I want to remember him as he was in "Sex, Lies and Videotape," which was filmed in my old neighborhood in Baton Rouge.

Well, as for being a Republican -- the parties are only proxies for deeper political ideals and ideology. No party has ever truly represented the deepest thoughts of the deepest thinkers, like Jefferson, Hamilton and Madison.

That's just the way democracies work. Lowest common denominator wins.

Boston Legal is one of my favorites, too.
