There is a huge gulf between individual freedoms and obligations to acknowledge sacrifices by the oppressed, and conforming to the dictates of self-appointed "leaders" who are violating basic concepts of free speech and individual conduct.

It boils down to whether one clique can demand that everyone in their group adheres to a dogma. Even if that dogma is seemingly justified, I find the concept of obligatory subordination to groups repugnant as an American. It's no different than when I banned someone here for saying if we don't support George Bush's struggle against evil, we are part of the evil.

Who is he to define the terms of the debate over my definitions, dictate my speech and conduct and then condemn me for not obeying? When does anyone have that right unless I have given up my rights to individual thought and volunteered to be obedient?

He thinks I am a weak-kneed traitor. I think he is a wannabe fascist, albeit with "good motives" since he sincerely opposes bad guys.

But I won't have him or anyone in my face dictating their terms to a free citizen. That's where democracy falls apart. And dictators always have good reasons, history is full of their self-serving rhetoric.

Sorry for rambling off your original point - just started some currents there.
