The dollar has been decent of late, could this be part of the reason?

French Watts?

For millions of Americans, Watts or the rioting which followed the Rodney King disaster are things we'd just as soon forget - right some of the wrongs and try to move forward. But we don't head much about racial tensions in Europe - or at least we haven't until the past week - as racial tensions exploded in rioting in suburban Paris. The problems there, as they were/are here, relate to lack of opportunity, true integration into the social mainstream and to some extent, culture clash. The economic impact of this may be significant for the EU which to some extent been positioned as equal to (and some argue greater than) the U.S. in stability. Today, we're not so sure, and I have to wonder if strength of the dollar might be in some measure attributable to the realization that some social issues are nearly universal, even touching the Continent.
