RE: "Altera sees holiday weakness" and "I built into our forecast an assumption that consumer would be weak this quarter..." Not the same thing. "I plan to carry my umbrella tomorrow" is not the same as "I expect rain tomorrow." I carry my umbrella as a precaution. I might think the chance of rain is only 30%. Similarly, Altera made a cautious forecast, which might have been prompted by what they think is a 30% chance that the consumer would be weak.
