I didn't come out all that strongly against Clinton on the impeachment issue. I didn't want him to be president. I never voted for him. I opposed a number of his policies, but I didn't jump for joy that he was impeached, or feel or express outrage that he was not convicted. I did come out strongly for the idea that he was impeached for perjury not for sex with an intern or even for lying about sex with an intern. The difference between lying and lying under oath is not a technicality. The latter is a crime and not a crime that is a mere technical violation, or a situation where the government has unjustly made otherwise perfectly ok actions criminal. I don't think it would have been a grave injustice if Clinton was convicted but I also don't think it was a travesty that he was acquitted. I can see the arguement that Clinton shouldn't have had to testify in this case as a reasonable one. But Clinton himself supported the law that later required his testimony. If the law had been thrown out I wouldn't have complained but I don't think it should apply to everyone else and not to presidents. what led to the invasion of a no-threat country Exaggerated threat, likely greatly exaggerated threat but not no threat. And your intelligence made this clear Is this according the hypothetical situation where we assume that the statements in the SOTU where direct, deliberate complete lies, or is this a specific assertion of actual truth? Don't you care that you've just killed thousands of foreigners simply because, well, because you could? Not a very accurate representation of the facts. Tim
