Wrong. The Rove-Bush rightwing political machine has been coordinating and planning since the mid 90's, with the backing of big energy, the arms industry, Bectel types, many others. They joined forces with the religious right as well as the neocon intellectual zealots to form an alliance. Then they started fighting very-very dirty, and illegally.

To win, Rove and the other experts needed to first smear Clinton so badly that even the most popular and successful president in modern times would be a liability for AL Gore. Amazingly they succeeded in getting a prosecutor to investigate Clinton's sex life, then added four phonjy smoking bimbo lawsuits to the mix, including one phony rape charge.

Democrats were too politically correct and complacent to fight back. Then Rove-Bush smeared McCain as a traitor homosexual whore-monger, stole the nomination, then with Jeb Bush in Florida they were able to organize a 50,000-100,000 vote edge, mainly by purging black voters from the rolls. Nader also helped. Finally, they got the whole matter into the Supreme Court where Scalia (a Bushie partisan) put GW in power. In actuality though, Gore won, though I admit Gore-Lieberman were not great candidates.

Then came the nomination of Cheney and big coordinated energy gouging, their phony energy crisis, engineered by Bush crony Enron, but in collusion with all the rest. That was tgheir first huge ripoff scheme, probably netting about 50 billion. But that was just the beginning.
