They are both very valid forks, I would not be concerned with the slope of the red fork at all...

Note if you placed that red fork's last point back on the mid Aug high. That slope would have been steep, typically with steep slope you get greater moves. Since the reaction in early sept was rather muted for the couple days after testing the upper tine, one would be on alert if short as the move should have been be swift and fast right after testing.
