Do you know the extent of China's? Even Brazil, a big critic of Bush's Iraq policy, was caught in a big moment of hypocrisy when it was revealed that their own prisons did the same things as Abu Ghraib. I no longer assume anything. After reading what goes on in the prisons the US completely controls, I can't imagine what goes on in the prisons the US co-manages with other countries. When I read that a 22 year old Afghan man, the father of 3 small kids...a husband, son and taxi driver, innocent of any wrong doing......was tortured to death because it was good sport, I think the ruthless men who now control this country are pretty much capable of anything. Its very clear they have believed for a long time that America has been too soft; that it was time to show a new America to the world, a much harsher America where torture now was acceptable. As a direct result of that new policy, the muscles in the legs of the tortured Afghan were totally shredded and pulled back from the bone. They looked as if a Mack truck had been driven over them repeatedly. Three small children are fatherless because some American soldiers with the confederate flag flying proudly over their tent needed to get their jollies. What I think of them, and the leaders who made their playtime possible, you don't want to know. They have disgraced every American. The death of the tortured Afghan haunts us all. So Ten, I don't care what Brazil's or China's policies are. I don't know if they are worse, as bad or better than America's policies. What I do know is that America's standards have dropped significantly, and that the president you put into power twice now is threatening to veto anti torture legislation. I am thoroughly disgusted. I think that pretty much says it all!
