regli, you are right. Because in 1979 (Yun 10 birth year), China's own design of Airplane was about 20 years gap comparing to the US ones (that Chinese documentary mentioned it). And that is why using the old Boeing model to compare. China, at that time, designed Yun 10 with the old US model on mind ONLY.

Keep in mind, China did NOT have ANY national industry at all in 1950! NO one, except Mao and CCP, could successfully realized the lower-level industrialization in ONE generation ONLY. Yes, that is 20 years!

As of now, China's civil airplane R&D level is 50 years gap comparing to the developed countries! All thanks to the stopping the R&D altogether!

And that is also the reason why the US and Boeing was so afraid of China might have their own large scale airplane. So they bribed Shen Tu (also effectively developed him as CIA spy). The US MD company offered China with a JV to jointly make airplane. And as soon as China took down their own Yun 10 Platform and stopped their own R&D, Boeing bought MD, and asked China to destroy all the blueprints, and equipment and closed that JV. China spent millions for NOTHING! All "thanks" Deng's stupid strategy as well as the US conspiracy!

In one of those Chinese articles I posted, one senior manager of Boeing had some confession. He said the only reason MD offered joint developing large-scale airplane with China was that they wanted China to stop their own R&D altogether and they do NOT want ANY potential competitors! And with Deng's help, the US successfully killed Yun 10! and laid the ground for occupying the HUGE China's civil airplane market!

So how many Boeing and Airbus China has bought since early 1980s, >3000! How much profit is that? Yes, even if China continued their own Yun 10 research, China may still need to buy some Boeing and Airbus, but the quantity would have been much much lower than now!
