Any comments on Rumsfeld's recent visit to China ?

I though he might taking control of China policy away from GWB & Condi. Which would be an improvement.

I noticed there was no significant practical outcome, which leads me to think the meeting was important.

I think Rumsfeld and possibly Cheney are close to the GHW Bush (the elder Bush) and his associates, which is a very different crowd than GWB, Condi and friends.

Dawn of the policy ascendency of the Panda huggers ? ;-)

BTW, some news reports had the line "Rumsfelds lectures China on Democracy" or something like that. This seems to be a smokes screen for J6P etc. I read much of the remarks, and you have to work to get that meaning. Mostly the remarks seemed to be along the lines of Dengism 101.
