"And in the scandal of priests who betrayed youth, their vows and Christ, The Church of Christ is really about forgiveness and absolution."

Yes, but the church is not about truth. That is why the CC does not pursue the thousands of people who have never come forward from being "betrayed," as you so politely put it. Raped and sexually abused is the more accurate expression. Thousands of people live in abject psychological misery for priests lap time, but the church certainly has no interest in seeking them out. They're all over the nation, a silent group of people that have abused by priests, in need of mental medical attention and compensation for ruined lives.

well Catholic Church specific rules are rules

Wanna explain that? What if a Catholic tells the priest to stuff his rules, he is only going by the Word, how will the church handle that?

In the situation of child abuse, it creates an very complex dilemma.

Forgiveness, certainly , yes, for those that ask, yet to LEAVE them in the position to repeat the offense is nutty. and IMO, there is not perpetual forgiveness for one who CONTINUES to "live in" sin, and I believe I can back that up in scripture.

The Clergy I have known are kind and very giving individuals.

I have known some that way and some I would not give a nickel for, same as some other denominational clergy.

Now as to praying to Mary or the idea of the Rosary. It's not in any way a deification.

So...then I could pray to Ralph...or Grady.....or Sally...and it would do just as good, correct?
