Many, I don't know about Henry Fonda, but John Wayne had a bad back from a football injury at USC, and was not accepted by the military. I have read that he tried to get in, but cannot prove that. He did all he could do by making movies that showed the courage, and ability, of American soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen.
