The Pleasure of Shisha
latif.blogspot.com

Paraphrased from Wikipedia.

A.k.a Hookah, the Shisha is a traditional Islamic device for smoking and is now the rage in London, and I imagine liberal coast America. The word Shisha itself is derived from the Persian word for glass, Shishe. The most commonly used substance (known as tobamel or maassel) is a 1:2 mixture of traditional flavored tobacco with a sweet substance such as honey, molasses, or semi-dried fruit. Originally tobacco was mixed with one of these sweeteners to form jurâk (e.g. Zhaghoul brand), a flavorless, moistened tobacco.

However, most brands of shisha tobacco generally contain a mention saying "no tar" and very small amounts of nicotine (0.5%). These figures probably refer to measurements carried out using a low-frequency "inhaling" machine (as in the case of shared smoking). Tar production increases with frequency.

In Arab societies, social smoking is done with a single hose - when the smoker is finished with his puffs, he places the hose back on the table signifying that it is free. Handing the hose around the table is often considered rude.

Or as I say Shisha is the new Muslim clubbing.
