KM,

You always know how to look on the bright side. SF has a great sense of civic pride, varied neighborhoods, beautiful houses, bay and ocean beaches, and amazing food. Cold? Well, depends on when you go there. Go there in June, and it'll be cold. Go in Oct., and you'll swear that you'll never leave. If you like to do stuff outdoors, it's a great place to be.

It is not a great place for families and party animals, though. According to the SF Chron., there are a bit more than half the school-age children in SF as in SJ. According to me, the 1:00am last call is a joke for a city of any size.

DINK's and Execs drive the price of housing in SF.
