And you are missing my point, which is that attorneys represent clients from both sides of the political fence. Given the fees involved, Marc Rich was a desirable client.

I am currently trying to complete a deal with a former Democratic lobbyist, an individual fairly close to David Wilhelm. He knows my politics. Will it impede our ability to get a deal done? Hopefully not, though I do wash my hands after we shake.

Marc Rich is probably apolitical. I have actually read “Metal Men: How Marc Rich Defrauded the Country, Evaded the Law, and Became the World's Most Sought-After Corporate Criminal,” though I can’t remember if he had any strong political convictions. I’ll have to dig the book out of whatever pile it is buried under.

As for Enron, you know damn well that Lay and Skilling go on trial in January. You should spend some time on the Enron thread. Even you have to admit that the DOJ and SEC are doing a fairly good job cleaning up the Clinton era frauds. Bush is not going to pardon any of these bastards.

Rich is merely a money man, a tax evader,
