Communism is an ideal and fantasy as has been illustrated by its failure wherever it has been.Socialism has more of a chance and it seems that China is heading more toward being Capitalistic don't you think ? Yet Capitalism to me is a form of economics.. True Democracy is what we really want for people.. And yet it too has it's flaws as we can see by looking at our own Country. My parents used to say, it's not perfect but it beats everyone else.... There are phases that a regime goes through. Castro's form of Communism if it is that... had to be dictatorial in the beginning but I think it is much more open now. For me what has been important is that there is no poverty any longer and that there is no illiteracy.. and finally that all of the Cubans have health care. I don't profess to have all the answers to this topic. Cubans I know who escaped were all wealthy, had everything they needed or wanted and did resent giving it all up when Castro took over.. They fled...They hate that he took over their plantations and their money. It will be interesting to see what happens to Cuba once Castro is gone. Governments are like nature at times. When a purge is needed and a new form of species takes over.. I always welcome being enlightened with regard to the topic of what is best for all of the people... Ionesco posted an illuminating article on dictatorships. I never knew that there were so many..... Just the famous ones like Franco... Hitler.. I hated History at one point and now I love it. But do have a lot to learn as I know I possess a certain naivety .But that which I am really sure of I will debate.
