I think S. Africa received technical assistance from Israel, while Israel obtained a source of uranium from S. Africa. S. Africa provided the testing ground in the southern ocean. Both the USA & Russia's bombing making owes a considerable debt to Jews BTW.

In S. Africa, a family friend of my parents was a German physicist, who got a job in the late 1960's working on specialized explosives for De Beers, after which he stopped discussing his work. My Dad assumed it was nuclear related rather than mining, but who knows. De Beers would have been a useful cover for that sort of work.
