Cheney has always taken the position that there was some kind of connection between Saddam and 9/11. He's the one who kept harping on the alleged meeting between Mohammed Atta and Iraqi intelligence agents in Prague, even after it was essentially discredited or at least abandoned by everybody else.

Cheney was also the one pushing the Niger-yellowcake story.

Cheney was also the one pushing the aluminum tubes story.

Now he's the only one pushing for the "right" to torture -- the Senate vote against was 90 to 9 -- that's pretty damned unanimous.

I used to think Cheney must think things nobody else thinks because he knew things nobody else knew. Now I think he's delusional and probably paranoid.

Cheney -- or at least his office -- was the one with a secret vendetta against Joe Wilson. What was wrong with simply coming out on Sunday talk shows and making the case against Joe Wilson without sliming his wife?

I already know the reason -- paranoid fear that Joe Wilson's wife was somehow out to "get" the administration because she works for the CIA and the CIA didn't agree with Cheney on his assessments of Saddam.

Same paranoid fear of the State Department, as it turned out, causing Colin Powell to finally just chuck it, and Colin Powell is a very good man.

Now it appears that even Rumsfeld is turning against Cheney on the torture issue.

Entirely too weird. Reminds me more and more of the second Nixon administration. Paranoia run wild.

There's no use attempting to discuss this further with you

You just need to face it, you're on the wrong side of this issue. Always have been.
