I remember mixing that margarine in plastic bags! It came with a little embedded ampule of yellow food coloring, and you had to break it and knead the bag for about 15 minutes. We had to drive across the border to another state to get it because our state only allowed white margarine. Now days any kind of margarine seems behind the times to me, because I use olive oil as a butter substitute.

Bill,

The dairy industry is protected in Canada and milk and butter are much more expensive than here. Dairy farmers do pretty well (I have two cousins running large commercial dairies in Nova Scotia).

On the other hand - sugar is at world (ie market) prices in Canada and soda and candy are much cheaper.
