Silicon Graphics Announces New Stock Symbol SGID

November 07, 2005 13:41:59 (ET)

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov 07, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Silicon Graphics, a leader in high-performance computing, visualization and storage, announced today it will begin trading its stock on the Over-the-Counter (OTC) securities market under the ticker symbol 'SGID'.

"SGI is a long-term strategic technology supplier that we believe is mission critical to the nation," said Bob Bishop, chairman and CEO, SGI. "Putting our OTC transition in context, there will be no change to our products, services and operations, or our commitments to customers, partners and vendors. We remain focused on our customers and our business objectives."

The OTC is a regulated but decentralized market of securities traded via an electronic quotation system that serves more than 3,000 companies. On the OTC, securities are traded by a network of brokers or dealers who carry inventories of securities to facilitate the buy and sell orders of investors, rather than providing the order matchmaking service seen in specialist exchanges. OTC securities include national, regional, and foreign equity issues. Companies traded OTC must be current in their reports filed with the SEC and other regulatory authorities.
