My son, who has a chronic illness, just asked his young, somewhat well-known doctor at a prestigious Boston teaching hospital for some Tamiflu, at my suggestion. His doc said that this was all an over-reaction, would never be a threat, maybe in 5 years, not to worry about it.

I am astounded. If the response of our top medical community is not prudence, we are truly screwed.

Allan, since I can't access your blog for some reason I'll ask here. Do you have a critera (ion) for when you'd get out of the markets due to a pandemic? A human-human transmission appearing anywhere geographically, reported by a major news organization such as CNN, AP, etc? A Western Europe transmission? A U.S./Canada transmission? While it may be of little consequence if one doesn't survive, if one does, one would not like to be broke. I assume that the web and other communications (electricity) would be down pretty quickly. Any thoughts?
