>re: Private insurers administrative overhead runs 23% of costs. The only government system we have, medicare (for seniors over 65), runs at 2% administrative overhead costs.

Don't expect a response that's just more reality based crap.

Apply those metrics to California Workers' Compensation Payouts.....

And i would bet administrative costs are *NOW* 40 percent of PAYOUTS....

Better yet. If u want to continue to instil the profit motive in the system....As david suggests...

get rid of the fee schedule all together...and DE REGULATE ....if u will...

Let the market bare what it will bare....Let Doctors, Physical Therapists, Pharmacists, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists et al charge whatever they can....

Get rid of the barriers all together....

The system is SO CONVOLUTED it's pathetic....

PS. It totally boggles my mind that Medicare is able to run such a tight ship and actually pay a reasonable amount to providers....It further boggles my mind that MEDI CAL i.e. Medicaid is such an antiquated administrative cesspool and pays about ONE THIRD of what private insurance and MEDICARE pays to providers....
