"Have you never read the stories about Pittsburgh after WW II?"

Yes, but the plants have gotten better. They still have a lot of problems. And yes, bituminous is worse than anthracite, anthracite is almost pure carbon.

The reason NK is wanting to develop nuclear reactors is because it has a significant energy crisis. Back in the mid 1990s, NK had huge floods that shut down large portions of their coal production and hydroelectric plants. The coal they still produce must be exported so they will have enough foreign currency with which to trade. Electricity is in short supply and blackouts are fairly common.

Making matters worse, they can't afford to buy fertilizers which has helped lead to the food famines. NK has long winters and short summers.........not the best for growing.

Now the question is....how much are they spending on their nuclear industry and would that be enough to revive their coal and hydrolectric industries?
