Even in the mid-90's when I was still a Clinton supporter, I recognized that Clinton was just riding the wave, that he had little to do with reversing the recession that occurred in 1992.

I am not sure to what wave you are referring. Clinton was directly responsible for almost all aspects of this country's successes during the 1990s........just as Bush is directly responsible for most of its failures in this decade. The president is a very influential figure. The spin you heard about Clinton not being responsible was Republican in nature and was intended to undermine the great respect Clinton commanded for a job well done.

Of course, I voted for Clinton in 1996, believing that he was a "moderate" and his political opponents were the "extremists." Only in 1998 did I find out what the first rule of partisan politics is.
