9:29AM Wireless Facilities swings to profit, but cuts forecast (WFII) by Jeffry Bartash
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Wireless Facilities Inc. on Monday swung to a third-quarter profit but warned of flat sales in the fourth quarter owing to operational problems in Latin America and hurricane-related difficulties in the southeastern U.S. In the latest quarter, Wireless Facilities (WFII) earned $5.8 million, or 8 cents a share, reversing a net loss of $14.9 million, or 22 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue climbed 14% to $108.9 million from $95.8 million. Analysts were expecting income of 8 cents a share on revenue of $117.7 million, according to Thomson First Call. Looking ahead, the company said it expects flat revenue in the fourth quarter, with earnings of 5 cents to 6 cents a share. Wireless Facilities said it's reorganizing its Latin American operations after cost overruns and other problems. The company has also been hurt by recent hurricanes in the southeastern U.S., where it does the bulk of its domestic business. Wireless Faciltiies helps build and manage "Wi-Fi" networks.
