re: voting participation

I don't think voter participation is actually very good, nationwide, and not even what it could potentially be, locally, considering the proximity to the nation's capital.

I just happen to vote in a heavily populated area where every activity involves standing in line. We gotta lotta people, waiting to check out of grocery cashier lanes or any other public place.

However, considering how polarized the political parties are these days, and how vicious the campaign has been between the two guys fighting for the Governor's post in Virginia, it should be a big day at the polls tomorrow, as it usually is even when there isn't a vicious, backbiting campaign like the one we're having now. Or maybe the backbiting will have the opposite effect, and make people stay home. Who knows? I'm expecting the worst and budgeting a lot of time to the process.

Folks around here have definite political opinions and generally like to vote.
