Chinese emigrate to developed countries, acquired the western outlook and look back to China with rose-tinted glasses and expect to have a carbon copy of the neighborhood they have in the west. This is naïve. Send those guys back to China and see if they can make a living there.

It's the % of the GNP. Poor people, those there in the farms waiting to get a construction job or export himself out of poverty, they don't read newspaper.

This free press thing is important for the urban, educated well fed intellectuals. It was like that in Brazil. The military, who took over there, did a few wrong things. Most were economic lousy policies.

The overall project they had was the right. Case in point: Chile: If Chile have had Allende not thrown out today they would be a Cuba.

The lack of freedom of the press censoring theater plays, movies, or music, was only a big "issue" for the well fed intellectual middle class.

Lets be pragmatic here. First we eat, then, after that we philosophy!!

Those noveaux rich Chinese emigrants to western countries want to have in China: tort law, political correctedness, payment for the single mothers, OSHA rules, let this proceed free they may even ask for 35-hour week...

What do you want to turn China into? MQ's New Zealand?
