Your critique of Descartes is a giant step in the direction of eastern philosophy.

It's the step that follows that's the mindbender: No self.

"beer & grass, that's my food for thought.

"May be truer than you realize. "Alcohol in Latin is 'spiritus', and we use the same word for the highest religious experience as well as the most depraving poison. A helpful formula therefore is Spiritus contra spiritum."
~ Carl Jung, letter to Bill Wilson

It is said that alcoholics are drinking to achieve a spiritual experience. Trouble is they don't know when the state of bliss is reached and pass out. Such is life.

Homer Simpson also had his own philosophical thought on booze. Probably the most thought provoking thing he ever uttered.

"To alcohol - the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems."
~ Homer J Simpson

HARRY: You said:

"I know I am"

If you would care to explain what:

"I"

"know"

"am"

each mean
while separating the observer from the observation, then I think you will have made a valuable contribution towards understanding "time" (but I don't think you can do it).

Unless you are saying, of course, that time exists INDEPENDENTLY of all observers. (but I don't think you can prove that either).

Are you looking for the meal without the cook?

Not wishing to debate. You have some nice influences and
philosophical company. Stay with them until you find that they are lacking, or until your disillusionment deepens.

Namaste!

Jim

That would be a valuable contribution also, so you might want to explain that too.

I really don't like Eastern Philosophies.

I think they have a lot of merit, only they figure they got the trifecta 3000 years ago and haven't had to think about it again. Sometimes a little revision is a necessary part of the philosophy.
