Agreed. Very shrewd.

Shrewd enough such that no crackdown has taken place despite days of rioting, millions in property damage, and a curfew imposed only recently.

Heck, we had lots more security after Katrina than do the French, but don't ask me how many unidentified and permanently unknown looters and other assorted bad guys were disappeared after martial law was declared because I'd have to say "lots." Some of them will never be seen at a morgue. An interesting contrast betwen the US and France, one that is likely to remain unexplored.

What would you do if you could here Nadine...The whole thing seems at an impasse to me....

Why would two generations downstream, these French Muslims not have needed skills? Did they not want to learn, or didn't the French want to teach them?

Were there no schools offered, or required? Did the parents and grandparents not want to educate their children? Why didn't the parents and grandparents go back to their home territory if the French couldn't offer them the opportunity to learn....?

Is there no opportunity in France? WHat about the rest of Europe?
