Well I hope they ask Saddam this at his trial.

Saddam: We were never trying to make nuclear weapons!

Prosecutor: Then why did you have 500 tons of uranium?

Saddam: Well, er, ah...Oh! X-Ray machines! Thats the ticket, X-Ray machines! We were going to produce thousands, no millions of X-Ray machines!

Prosecutor: Why would Iraq need so many X-Ray machines?

Doesn't matter, he was nowhere near making a bomb, not like Iran is today. Don't forget Pakistan was sharing its nuclear bomb building knowledge with Lybia, Iran and who knows where else. North Korea, no friend, is a thousand times more nuclear threat than Iraq ever was. And besides it all, I thought Osama bin Laden was America biggest threat and he still is...
