I didn't say I favored leaving Afghanistan in 2001. You don't topple a government and leave a power vacuum to be filled by a narcostate, jihadists, fundamentalist kooks, warlords and guns.

OK, Republicans do that kind of crappola but it's ill advised.

You have NO IDEA what the Iraqi government supports or doesn't support. You're making assumptions that have no basis in fact.

Someone is supporting the insurgency and sometimes them thar would be people with day jobs in things like the police and the security forces...them thar are the government. Wishful thinking will not make it real.

What is clear is that the Iraqi government supports the Iranians. How that strange state of affairs came about is something you should sit down and ponder.

Ask yourself this: why is this 'war' in a third world country, devastated by decades of war and sanctions conducted by the richest, most powerful military ever seen on earth....TAKING SO BLOOMING LONG?
