So why do people keep saying that we can afford to send manufacturing jobs overseas as long as we keep knowledge jobs? It's absurd.

We're gutting the middle class of this country in order to have cheaper sneakers and throw away furniture?

This idea has been around for so long that it, like the baloney idea that private companies are always more efficient and effective than government organizations, that no one questions its effect on the real world.
