Read the history of the Middle East and you won't be blaming Jimmy Carter any longer. The roots of oil-weapons-subterfuge-corruption and religious clashes go way back. To "Lawrence Of Arabia", WWII days and before. Israel together our addiction to Arab oil is at the root of all the problems. Carter did not create either one. And the Shah was falling before Carter came into power.

In fact, there is no evidence that Reagan's advance teams kept the Tehran hostages from being released under Carter, in exchange for massive arms deals after Reagan got in. The Reagan administration continued selling weapons to Iran and Iraq both during the next four years, weapons which could now be used against us.

And now we're occupying Iraq. Bad decision. What a mess. We need to get off Arab oil completely and also make peace in Israel. Nothing else will stop this from going on and on.
