Al-Qaeda in Iraq carried out the triple bomb attack which killed at least 56 people in Jordan's capital Amman, a statement posted on the internet says. Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister, Marwan Muasher, said earlier the al-Qaeda in Iraq group was a "prime suspect". At least 300 people, mostly Jordanians, were injured in the blasts at the Grand Hyatt, Radisson and Days Inn hotels. Most of the dead are Jordanians, but a number of other Arabs, two Chinese, one American and an Indonesian also died.

Sadly (and I mean that) the Iraq War is creating thousands of new terrorists while we are only killing hundreds. The bombers in Jordan yesterday for instance were said to be Iraqi. Before we invaded, Iraq was not allied with terrorist groups except for sending gifts to dead Palestinian suicide bombers, though Saddam only started doing that after we were pressuring himn, as a PR move to gain Islamic support. The Saudis had been doing it for many years. I'm afraid Bush-Cheney have made a huge mess of things over there. We may feel stuck in Iraq now, and maybe we are to a degree, but we've just got to change course and come up with a new plan which includes the UN and all kinds of other help. We cannot make peadce in Ireaq by ourselves. Our very presence there proves some of Osama's most outrageous speeches in the 90's were "true". It's a huge recruiting tool for Al Qaida. And the Abu Graib and Cheney-defends-torture type stuff is just more fuel to the fire. I also cringe whenever I see Halliburton get more no-bod contracts. It's just so-so corrupt. Cheney really deserves to twist in the wind for eternity for this. One more thing, Bush-Cheney's invasion cost us a moderate government in Iran which is a bigger threat to us than Saddam was.
