There were results in Tuesday's election that I just hate, but I have no choice but to accept them.

I was pleased with what happened in Virginia. There was a financial crisis in Virginia early in the current governor's (Warner) term. Virginia's credit rating was about to be trashed. The Democratic governor and enough of the Republican legislature worked out a deal, which included some tax increases, and the credit rating was saved. But it was very, very ugly between the Republicans who negotiated the deal and those who dug in, to what end I never understood. Anyway, the Republican candidate for governor (Kilgore) was on the ugly diehard side of that and I would have hated to see him become governor. (He ran an ugly campaign, too.)

Anyway, sometimes elections work out well.
