A much easier way for you as a Norte Americano is buying a little place in Eire (Republic of Ireland) and legally apply for a 2nd passport there after 3 years.

Perfectly legal and you save a ferry ticket between Africa and Spain :)

Sorry, I missed this one. You actually jump the fence of one of the Spanish enclaves in Africa and you are on Spanish ground right there.

According to EU law they cannot ship you back then.

The Spanish make a long story short, give you a Spanish passport and off you are to your 9 million brethren in France.
Soon to become 10 million brethren with no walking the water required...
