Lizzie<<<"Click fraud is nothing more than the dilution of advertising services,>>>

Good points, though I do think there's a problem when clicks are made with the intent to be fraudulent so I wouldn't want to down play it and lump as just another dilution. For example there are these cases where someone will intentionally try to frequently click on a competitor's ads to intentionally drive up costs for them and possibly reduce their ability to advertise if it's a pay per click basis. Also I've seen an idiot or two on Yahoo a year or two ago calling for heavy clicking just to supposedly drive up revenue for the company sponsoring the ads. My usual response was that it was not only fraudulent but counter-productive because it could backfire against the company. Fortunately I haven't seen those posts in the last year or so.

You make though the most salient point by far in how this actually plays into the hands of GOOG versus its search competitors when you say "Google already has the best AI in their programs such that they don't show the same ads to the same IP address very often. Thats why their clicks are higher than yahoo. So they implicitly have a smaller problem with click fraud than other search companies" That's an incredibly important selling point that a lot of people don't appreciate. Also when you talk about the the relation between click and real life sales, it reminds me of another stock I have APTM. They're a lead based online advertiser and they're now using technology not only to determine the best ad placements and rapidly validate personal info but they have feedback now to directly measure the end points such as sales and can directly after validating direct the potential client who's info indicated telephone contact is OK into a call center e.g. for contact while the lead is still hot. The stock has been a disaster while the company has been doing this transition and dropping promotional publishers they found whose lead placements were not really converting into sales for the advertiser and going after top publishers now.

Is Google Calling Gaim's Shots?

The search giant hired Sean Egan, the lead developer of the Gaim open source instant messaging project, several months ago to make it easier for other IM clients to use Google Talk's voice features.

The much-anticipated Gaim version 2.0, which is currently in development, was expected to merge code from the gaim-vv (video/voice) project and allow for video and voice support.
